What to expect when you come into our office

As you walk through the lobby doors, you will be greeted by our lovely receptionist. Many patients comment on how comfortable the atmosphere in our office is and how friendly the staff treats them.

Dr. Cody will greet you in the lobby and take you into a treatment room. At that time, a comprehensive health history will be taken. The health history will include the following: your present condition(s), past medical history, lifestyle questions, a brief family history, and most importantly your goals of treatment!

At the conclusion of your health history, Dr. Cody will then decide if you are a good candidate for chiropractic care. If he determines you are a candidate that will benefit from chiropractic treatment, then he will decide if an X-ray will be needed in the office. X-ray’s can be an important tool to help diagnose and/or rule out certain conditions, especially in cases where an injury or trauma occurred.

The next step of your appointment will include a thorough neuromusculoskeletal examination with a particular focus on the condition(s) with which you present. This examination will typically include a functional movement screening, muscle testing, joint palpation, posture evaluation, orthopedic tests, and vitals.

The first visit typically will last anywhere from 30 – 45 minutes, in which the patients condition(s) will be thoroughly evaluated. The treatment process will ensue after the condition has been evaluated and explained to the patient. Treatment could occur on the first or second visit, depending on the condition(s) and the needs of the patient. Subsequent visits after the “new patient visit” will last anywhere between 10 and 20 minutes.

Once the examination has been completed, a Report of Findings will be given to the patient. During the report of findings Dr. Cody will diagnose the patients condition(s) and prescribe a treatment plan that is customized to the patients needs. The report of findings answers the “what, why, and how”. What is your diagnosis? Why do you have the diagnosis? How do we correct the cause of your diagnosis?
